Course Description:
Carpentry Level Two content includes Building Materials, Fasteners, and Adhesives; Hand and Power Tools; Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Layout; Floor Systems; Wall Systems; Ceiling Joist and Roof Framing; Basic Stair Layout; Building Envelope Systems.
NCCER Carpentry Level 3 basic carpentry skills including properties of concrete, rigging practices, reinforcing concrete, vertical framework, tilt-up wall panels.
Cabinetmaking expands on the knowledge and skills gained through the Carpentry curriculum, providing learners with key information needed to construct and apply finishes to custom cabinetry. This title also discusses various types of wood products, wood-joining techniques, power tools, cabinet doors, shelves, and hardware. Specific guidance is also provided for the installation of laminate countertops.
The Construction Trades Academy operates on a 80/20 layout, which is 80% hand-on training and 20% review & testing. At Mcdowell Tech we believe that hands-on training is the best way to learn a trade and we provide our students with numerous opportunities to work and learn.
