Construction Trades Academy Level 1
Core: Introduction to Basic Construction Skills prepares individuals for entry-level positions on project sites by providing the basics in safety, hand and power tools, construction math, materials handling, construction drawings, rigging and employability skills.
Carpentry Level 1 curriculum helps learners to build general carpentry skills, before moving into advanced topical coverage of framing and finish carpentry, as well as concrete and form carpentry. The unique three tier approach to Carpentry complies with the U.S. Department of Labor’s standards for apprenticeship programs, while also supporting shorter programs focused on specific carpentry career pathways.??
Project Management curriculum is designed to support training for construction project managers, introducing learners to key topics such as construction documents, cost control, document control and quality control. This one-level curriculum also introduces learners to critical modern leadership skills, such as interpersonal skills, issues and resolutions, and continuous improvement.
The Construction Trades Academy operates on a 80/20 layout, which is 80% hand-on training and 20% review & testing. At Mcdowell Tech we believe that hands-on training is the best way to learn a trade and we provide our students with numerous opportunities to work and learn.
