HVAC Level I

Course Description:

 

This NCCER HVAC Level 1 course provides students with the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills required for a successful career in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). Designed for entry-level technicians and apprentices, this course follows the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum, ensuring industry-recognized training that meets workforce demands.

 

Course Objectives:

 

Introduce students to the HVAC industry, workplace safety, and essential tools. Develop an understanding of HVAC principles, including heat transfer, refrigeration cycles, and air distribution systems.

Learn basic installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques for HVAC

systems.

 

Gain hands-on experience with piping, tubing, and electrical components related to HVAC systems.

Prepare students for NCCER certification and future levels of HVAC training.

  • HVAC Industry Overview & Safety Procedures
  • Trade Tools, Fasteners, and Materials
  • Basic Electricity and Electrical Components
  • Introduction to Refrigeration and Heat Transfer
  • Piping, Tubing, and Soldering/Brazing Techniques
  • Air Distribution Systems and Ductwork Basics
  • Energy Efficiency and Green HVAC Practices

 

Who Should Enroll?

 

This course is ideal for individuals interested in starting a career in HVAC, apprentices in the field, or professionals seeking NCCER certification. No prior experience is required, but a basic understanding of mechanical systems is beneficial.

 

Certification & Career Pathway:

 

Upon successful completion, students will have completed all modules NCCER HVAC Level 1 certification except the Core Requirement, positioning them for advanced training in HVAC Level 2 and beyond. Graduates can pursue careers as entry-level HVAC technicians, apprentices, or maintenance assistants in residential, commercial, and

industrial settings.
