


Nurse Aide I - 10 weeks - Night Program

The Nurse Aide I Training Course is being offered as a ten (10) week in-person class with a classroom, lab, and clinical component. This Continuing Education department class is limited to the first 10 eligible students. Students will be required to have access to a computer that supports the required programs and Internet access.
This course includes the basic nursing skills required to provide individuals safe, competent personal care. Emphasis is placed on person-centered care, the aging process, safety, care of the elderly during emergencies, legal and ethical issues, communication, infection prevention, vital signs, height and weight measurements, elimination, nutrition, basic restorative care, rehabilitation, dementia, mental health, and end-of-life care. Upon successful completion, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills for the entry-level practice of the Nurse Aide I. Students will be eligible to test for listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry by successful completion of the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program administered by the North Carolina State testing agency.
