Medication Aide Training

This course is designed to meet the training requirements for becoming qualified as a Medication Aide. This course will cover the six rights of medication administration for non-licensed personnel. Topics will include medication administration via the oral, topical and instillation routes, medical asepsis, hand hygiene, terminology, and legal implications.
Upon completion, students should be able to take the competency exam and demonstrate skills necessary to qualify for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry.

Mandatory Orientation: January 17, 2025 @ 9:00am
Course Dates: January 17, 2025 - January 25, 2025
Class location: Building 17 Room 109
Times: Fridays and Saturdays 10am-4:30pm with 1/2 hour for lunch
Course Hours: 24 hours total
Due to short length of the course, there can be no absences, no arriving late or leaving early. Students must attend all class dates.
Course Cost: $126.30 plus the cost of the textbook + $35 plus tax ("Medication Administration - A Medication Aide Training Course Student Manual" to be purchased from MTCC Bookstore and is required on the first day of class). (TUITION MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO THE START OF CLASS)
Class size: Limited to the first 10 eligible applicants on a first come basis

Students must be approved for the class by the program director after registration. Contact Sarah Jornigan at sjjornigan97@go.mcdowelltech.edu Required documentation for approval includes: Driver's license, High School diploma/transcript/equivilance, proof of NA I registry listing, and Social security card. Once you approved for the class your registration will be completed. Copy of payment receipt will need to be brought to orientation for admitance into class..
